After being on the road for a couple of hours on our way to a swim meet we were feeling hangry and I was jonesing for a burger. Thank you yet again my Yelp buddies for steering me in the right direction.
We pulled into Blue Dog and knew we were where we were meant to be. This was George Rodrigue's spot and is still run by his family. His Blue Dog art is hanging on all of the walls. I've always loved his work, and I've always thought that he must have been a very happy guy, as his artwork always makes me smile.
The menu is varied and covers the SE Louisiana bases. My husband decided to check out the chicken and andouille gumbo, and also had a grilled shrimp salad. The gumbo is definitely authentic. Tastes like a dark roux base and is on the thicker side, just the way we like it. The grilled shrimp on his salad were PERFECT. They were well seasoned, plump and juicy. I had a burger that was unbelievable. And I'm picky about my burgers. It was soooooo good!
The service was wonderful, the artwork adds so much to the decor and the food was phenomenal.
I'm so glad we ended up here. -

Quant place but over priced and over rated.
Portions were small.
For a Friday night , the place was dead.
Atmosphere was nice but to quiet.
We asked for an extra scoop of rice and that was like an act of Congress and got charged a buck for it .
Not impressed ! -

Great atmosphere and decor. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. You are definitely well taken care of when it comes to service.
Food came out at a decent time, so there was no long wait for your appetizers or dinner. Everything came out in perfect timing. You get your drinks from the bar and enjoy those while having good conversation with your party or loved one and before you know it, your appetizers are out. Hot and fresh from the kitchen. While you are enjoying the appetizers, it isn't much longer then you main course arrives. My wife had the fresh catch of the day with vegetables while I had the Half & Half, which is a fried soft shell crab on top of a bed of white rice which was covered with crawfish etouffee and had fried shrimp on the side .great flavor and well prepared. Our friends had the Half & Half along with a blue crab linguine.
Nice place to meet friends and have a good dinner. My only complaint is that it gets pretty loud in the restaurant and that they are a little pricey our meal (2 alcoholic drinks, an appetizer, and 2 main courses cost $97 with tip.) Well worth it. -

Our server was Jessie. She served us the MOST amazing cajun meal!! Incredible from start to finish!
Our party of 4 arrived after 6 and was seated promptly. We ordered cocktails and appetizers (thanks to yelp, I already knew exactly what I wanted:)
We ordered Boudin balls and seafood wontons to start (both delicious we practically licked the plates) then 3 different entrees we all tried and loved. See photos for exact orders. This meal was perfection & we were all absolutely stuffed and pleased. Dessert was just the absolute bomb!! 1 order of brown butter ice cream, 1 bread pudding. Wow. I ran out of adjectives!! -

We are flying to California and had to stop in Lafayette due to weather. We found this place on Yelp and it was recommended by a local. We loved it. The food was excellent, absolutely delicious modern cajun food. We had mac and cheese, seafood wontons, blue crab linguini, and a shrimp po boy. Everything was flavorful with a perfect amount of spice. The service was outstanding and it was cool to learn about the Blue Dog art. I would highly recommend this place.
